Fantastic Maisel story on recruiting

Senior ESPN.com writer Ivan Maisel polled a bunch of college coaches — former, current and between jobs — and came up with a list of dos and don’ts.

It’s a fabulous read. Highly recommend.

  1. Good read. I always wondered what KF would be like when he goes to a home.

You would have to think he’s extremely impressive in front of parents and gets along well with most, if not all HS coaches everywhere.

You ever hear about what any of our staff does when they make a visit?

  2. From what I’ve gathered, Iowa’s staff is just what you’d thnk it’d be with the in-home visit. They present their case and don’t talk about others. They connect well with parents. It’s straight stuff. Come here, work hard, stay straight, win games. They don’t tell a kid one thing to get their signature and then pull the ol’ switcheroo a year down the road.
