TE Tony Moeaki injured . . .

Per sources, something with his foot. Possibly three weeks.

Iowa has an open practice next Saturday. It’ll be addressed.

Moeaki missed nearly all of the Big Ten season last year after dislocating his elbow in the Wisconsin game. He also missed all of spring practice after wrist surgery.

Monday will mark the one week of practices for the Hawkeyes.

The official Iowa website has run pictures from nearly every practice (which aren’t open to the media, which bothers me but it’s certainly their right). Today’s highlights include Shonn Greene wearing a helmet (a scalp infection prevented that earlier this week) and sophomore QB Rick Stanzi seems to be practicing (he suffered a shoulder injury July 18).

Here’s a link to today’s pics:

  1. YOU KNOW YOUR AN OLD MAN WHEN THE CRAZY THINGS YOU DID AS A HAWKEYE WOULD BE TERMED MILD BY TODAYS STANDARDS . THANK THE INTERNET, CRAZYED PARENTS TRYING TO LIVE THERE LIVE THROUGH THEIR KIDS AND THE ONGOING MEDIA PRESSURE THAT “CLASSIIFYS PROSPECTS” IN THE NINTH GRADE IT MAKES ME GAG !…HOW CAN A COACH OFFER A RIDE TO A F@@KIN NINTH GRADER… AS TYRONNE FROM UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON HAS DONE I THINK I WILL START A FOOTBALL SCHOOL YEAR ROUND AND TRAIN MY KIDS LIKE THE EAST GERMAN SWIM TEAM OF THE SEVENTYS…OF COURSE I NEED 25 PERCENT OF THERE EARNINGS …IF THEY MAKE IT!

  2. Tony just can’t get a break, and I hope that isn’t a bad pun. Some players seem like they have been around forever but it doesn’t seem that way with Moeaki. Hard to fathom that he is a senior already.

  3. I know Moeaki is listed as a senior, but I think he has next season available to him if he wants it. His season-ending elbow injury last season fits the medical hardship waiver criteria.

  4. Forgot about that. He may want next season. I hope he heals quickly. There will be a lot of 2 TE sets. Now only if they would stand up on the line of scrimmage.

  5. While I always thought it was cool, I also thought that the standup TEs always took a false step.

Everybody send positive energy to Ben Curtis (says the fantasy golf nerd).

  6. […] The left foot explains a lot of Moeaki’s 2008. It certainly explained his absence for spring practice ‘09, which had Moeaki on crutches after a winter surgery. […]
