Hi, I’m Marc Morehouse. I’ve covered sports for more than 15 years, mostly in Eastern Iowa. I’ve had Hayden Fry call me “Mike.” I’ve had Chad Greenway call me “Mr.” And Kirk Ferentz will occasionally call me “bleep.” (Kidding, kidding.) I’ve covered the Super Bowl, Orange Bowl and Iowa’s 49-3 loss at Michigan State in ’99. I like sports and actually still play some sports, though the trained eye would call my hockey ice dancing at this point. I play golf, poorly, but thoroughly enjoy the sport (read drinking beer afterward). I fish a little. I read books and really miss “The Sopranos” and “Deadwood.” I listen to music, with the Flying Burrito Brothers, the Pernice Brothers, Wilco and the Drive-By Truckers among my faves. I’ve been married for 1,028 years. My wife, you know her as BadgerLover4 on the messageboards, is from Wisconsin, attended the UW and is in her 1,029th semester in pursuit of a PhD at the University of Iowa. I have a diva-in-waiting entering middle school. I have a 9-year-old boy who wears his Aaron Kampman jersey (it’s the AK Packers) to bed. I love Cedar Rapids. Today it smells like Crunch Berries. Tomorrow, who knows. Maybe boiled chicken.
I have fun with the blog. I’ve made some great connections with a few readers and hope to continue that. Ultimately, I want to know what you want to know.
Thanks for reading.
Marc,

Just wondering your thoughts on this thing with the releasing Mike Shanahan as the coach for the Broncos? I’ve always been a Broncos fan…can i not see the forest for the trees? (whatever that means

As a lifelong Packers fan, Paul, I kinda see the Broncos in the same spot when Holmgren left for Seattle. Doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it just happens in the NFL when it happens.
From afar, the Broncos seemed to be in a rut. Good team, but always a team struggling to make the playoffs.
In the NFL, according to Ron Wolf, the Packers former GM, you can be something or a fart in the wind.
We’ll see the the Broncos. I think it’s a total rebuild but I don’t know the NFL as well as I know the NCAA.

Hello Marc,
Read you all the time & am happy to know there is at least one more person out there who misses The Sopranos & Deadwood. Actually, I miss Deadwood more than any other program and became very upset when HBO dropped it. Another HBO show I enjoyed was Carnivale. HBO dropped it also.
I cancelled HBO

Hey Lyle,
I didn’t get into Carnivale until the second season and then it was gone. I loved its setting, the Dust Bowl and the mysticism of that era.
HBO is in trouble. Showtime has a few excellent shows going right now, more than HBO.

Marc, wondered if you could do more on how the five Hawkeyes fared at the combine?
Thanks,
Steve
