FOOTBALL TEAM TO DONATE BLOOD
IOWA CITY (from UI sports info) – Players and coaches from the University of Iowa football team will donate blood from 8 a.m.-noon Friday, Feb. 27 at the UI Football Complex with the DeGowin Blood Center.
The donations will benefit patients of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Members of the UI football team first teamed up with the DeGowin Blood Center in 2006. More than 30,000 units of donated blood products were transfused last year at UI Hospitals and Clinics to patients ranging from premature infants to adults receiving surgery and treatments for cancer.

I respect when athletics uses its cache for good. I don’t see this as good PR, I see it as raising awareness. I like that. We all can do more of that.
